Is Online Poker Safe ?
Can i trust the online poker rooms
The increased popularity of televised poker tournaments has led to the
increase of the interest of poker games and the creation of a very large number
of online poker rooms. But a very important question remains: Is it safe to play
online poker? This matter can be approached from different perspectives.
From a legal point of view there are a lot of debates. However, nobody knows for
sure what conclusion to reach. The troubles met in this matter come from the
lack of legal precedents regarding playing poker online. Nobody has ever been
charged, trialed or much less convicted for playing online poker. There are
however some laws that can be interpreted as if they prohibit online poker
playing, but again there is the matter of the lack of precedent to base that
argument on. Even though these laws exist from state to state, from the moment
they came to act, not even one person has suffered a charge, trial or
conviction. Therefore, from a legal point of view there is no problem in playing
poker online.
But another question arises concerning the safety of online poker players and
this one is a little more troubling for them: is online poker rigged? The answer
to this question is definitely "No", because the poker sites make their money
from collecting the rake of each hand and not if you lose a hand. The rake is
the commission that the poker sites retain from the total amount of the pot.
Therefore, no matter who wins, the rake is the same and it would be in the best
interest of the poker sites to leave things alone and have as many players as
they can to place normal bets. The reasons why you may see a lot of big hands is
because the game is loose especially in low bets tables, so the more players in
a hand, the more chances for someone to land a big hand. The odds are to blame
for this and not the way the program is shuffling the cards. Therefore, you can
play poker with no worries about the game being rigged.
